A little lint is normal with new zero-twist towels. For Alusa Home towels, it usually decreases during the first two or three washes. Wash your new set before its first use and follow the care instructions for your collection.
Loose lint should settle down. If you’re seeing heavy shedding that continues, or fabric that’s thinning or unraveling, let us help.
Start with the first wash
Wash new towels with similar colors and a gentle detergent. Use cold water for Bamboo and Waffle, warm water for Chevron and Organic, and tumble dry low.
A separate towel load is helpful while loose lint is settling down. Leave enough space for the towels to move, and clean your dryer’s lint filter according to the machine’s instructions.
Keep the care gentle
Do not bleach, and skip fabric softeners and dryer sheets. They aren’t a solution for shedding and can reduce absorbency.
Avoid repeatedly washing a new towel on hotter or more aggressive settings. Stay with the care label and give the normal first-wash period a chance.
Know the difference between lint and a snag
Lint is loose fiber coming away from the surface. A snag is a projecting loop or strand. If you find a loose loop, don’t pull it. Carefully trim the projecting thread without cutting into the towel.
Keep towels away from exposed zippers, hooks, and rough fasteners in the laundry. If a seam is opening or the fabric is unraveling, contact us instead of trimming farther.
When should you get in touch?
Reach out if heavy lint continues after the early washes, if you notice thinning, or if the towel is coming apart. Tell us the collection and how many times it has been washed. A photograph can help us understand what you’re seeing.
